If you have these problems

Have you just bought a new bike?

Do you have back, neck, knee or arm pain while riding your bike?

Perhaps your bike just doesn't feel right

You need a bike fit!

The most crucial components of a bike fit are not only your height and leg length but your flexibility, strength and core stability. These factors will determine how you should be fitted on your bike to achieve maximal speed comfort and aerodymanics. Bikes can be “sized” to fit your general height and leg length, but they need to be fitted specifically to meet your physique.

As a physiotherapist, using special tests I am able to assess your flexibility, strength, core stability and diagnose any musculoskeletal problems that you may be having. On the basis of these findings and your riding expectations, your bike can be appropriately adjusted to meet those needs.

Getting your bike fitted

When you book for a bike fitting you will fill out a form requiring basic information about your riding style, goals and any concerns or physical limitations that you may be having at the time.

The bike fit will comprise of:

  1. Physical assessment - flexibility, strength, and balance
  2. Bike geometry measurements
  3. Measurements of your present position on the bike
  4. Adjustments to optimize your bike geometry to suit your body and maximize power and comfort

The assessment will indicate what is unique about you as a rider, your limitations and strengths. This way your final body position will allow you to know how to fit yourself on any bike. What measurements you can easily take to ensure that you can be perfectly fitted each ride and on every new bike.

A bike fitting takes approximately 75 minutes, with an appointment rate of $125.
